Rocky Points, a small town in the mountains of Colorado, has just been hit with an epic snowstorm, and while skiers at the resort are enjoying deep turns and face shots, the rest of the people in town are struggling to dig themselves out.

When a dead body is uncovered - brutally murdered and clearly marked with some sort of cryptic message - Sheriff David Wolf and his deputies are put on the clock, left scrambling to find a committed killer, and stop him before the corpses start piling higher than the snow.

Wolf's investigation leads him through the back rooms of Rocky Points, and when he unveils corruption involving the highest authorities, he's forced to gamble everything - life, limb, and his entire career - in order to reveal the truth.

Deadly Conditions David Wolf Book 4 (Audible Audio Edition) Jeff Carson Sean Patrick Hopkins Cross Atlantic Publishing Books

I am having a bit of a problem deciding on this one. So I am going with 3 stars as a middle road kind of decision.
The TYPO's were many, ones that a Spell Check could not pick out because they are spelled right, it is just the WRONG word in that place, or words were missing. Why do so many authors NOT proof read their own material before they publish or at the least have several proofreaders on hand to read it for them? I have proofread for several authors and never gotten paid for even one, so I know authors can find free proofreaders out there if they wanted or cared enough to put the best work they can for sale.
Okay so with that said.......

This is my first book by this author and this is the 4th in this series, so even though this is a stand alone book it was a bit confusing for me the first 6 chapters. But after Chapter 6 things got a lot better and moved along enough to keep my interest.
I like WOLF a lot, so I might go back and read some of the others or look for #5 in this series.
The authors writing style is ok... but he seems to have a few fetishes like each and every character at some point in the book and some several times in this book stare or look out the window, (window of a car or house or place of business) then he tells what it looks like out the window, the woods, the snow, what ever. And also there is a lot of scratching and itching going on with different characters too.
IF you can get past all that, this is a pretty good story. I did read it to the very end, and I did enjoy the mystery. But as I said to begin with it does have some problems, but for me it was free and I try to over look and not be too picky with free stuff... would I pay for this book NO WAY... it needs a lot of work cleaning up the typos before it can be worth even 99 cents.

Happy reading .........

Deadly Conditions David Wolf Book 4 (Audible Audio Edition) Jeff Carson Sean Patrick Hopkins Cross Atlantic Publishing Books Reviews

This was my fourth book in the David Wolf series by Jeff Carson. Like those before it (also including the short, "Gut Decision", which I also heartedly recommend), the book unfolds in an organized way that leaves me, the reader, wanting to read on. I call this "wanting to read on" good thread. Because, for one thing I just can't put the book down and for another, if I should have to do so for whatever reason, I don't have to re-read pages to remember where I am. As a corollary to muscle memory in sports, Carson's books have excellent "reader memory".
I don't re-tell story lines in my reviews. Suffice it to say, I look for good character development, which allows me to "walk along", so to speak, with both the protagonist or antagonist. It puts me, the reader, in the scene as though what is taking place is on a movie screen rather than in printed form. The theme, of course, is thriller and the plot bears that out, meaning, there is never a dull moment i.e., no lag in the story. There is good rising action, a climax and a definite resolution that leaves me satisfied with having just read a good book. This author also likes to define the setting, in this case a ski resort in Colorado. The setting sets the action for pursuit where and when necessary. The setting is essential to the story and not just included as a travel guide by the author to give us readers his sense of wanderlust.
I will be reading book five shortly and some time thereafter book six. I like to spend some time away between reads, so I can better savor what's ahead for Sheriff David Wolf.
Skiers at the Rocky Mountain resort are enjoying the aftermath of a huge snowstorm... Meanwhile, the residents of nearby Rocky Points are slowly but surely digging themselves out... A snow plow uncovers the body of a young woman who was murdered... Sluice County Sheriff David Wolf and his deputies will have to work hard to find the killer before he strikes again...

Right away, I was drawn into this story by the description of the skiers and new snow. I have taken holidays twice in Colorado and the skiing is epic! This story moved along at a decent pace and was very entertaining. Once again, I got a feel for the surroundings and everything is easy to visualise as I read. The characters are now like old friends and it is fun to follow the clues and solve the mysteries with Sheriff Wolf and his Sluice County Deputies. There were the usual twists and turns to keep me interested in the story. I did not figure out the whodunnits before they were revealed and I like that in a mystery. I am hooked on this series!
This is a review for the first four books in the series. I have loved all of the stories and the characters and would have given them a greater number of stars if it weren't for the many and frequent grammatical errors. It is annoying and distracting since there may be several on one page. Do writers not have a proof reader anymore? Here are just two examples "Anyways.....". The word "Anyway" is not plural. Ever. "He didn't know where he left his jacket at". The word "at" is a preposition. You should never end a sentence with one. There are regular misuses of words such as was/were, saw/seen. And at least once "your" was used instead of "you're". As others have said before me, "itch" is a feeling on the skin, "scratch" is what you do to relieve it....you don't itch it..

The characters are well developed and interesting. The plots exciting and paced just fast enough to hold a reader's interest. I will continue to complete the series but I highly recommend that Mr. Carson pay more attention to proof reading. It is difficult to take an author seriously when the errors are ones that would be covered in English 101.
I am having a bit of a problem deciding on this one. So I am going with 3 stars as a middle road kind of decision.
